There is no doubt that our connection with the natural world is essential for our emotional, cognitive, physical and spiritual well-being and development. If you want to take your practice outside, but want some guidance on outdoor skills, we are here to equip you.

We are aware that there is a significant movement amongst counsellors and psychotherapists to move some of their work with clients from the indoor to the outdoor environment. We understand this shift as related to a growing body of research which supports the reciprocal healing effects of the human-nature relationship.
Recognising that counsellors or psychotherapists often do not have either have all the skills or desire to manage both the therapeutic process and physical safety of the client or group, we would like to offer my skills as a fully qualified Mountain Leader.s
We have both taken the TA101. Additionally:
- Andy has worked alongside a UKCP registered TA psychotherapist and trainer, and has over 20 years' experience of working in pastoral situations.
- Daniella has completed her TA outdoor therapy training, and is a TA psychotherapy trainee.
As part of the service, we would work with you to identify a walk which meets your requirements and then fully manage the walking element of the walk, freeing you to focus on the therapeutic process. I have the following skills to identify potential hazards and manage risk in the outdoor context.
• Carry out an audit to assess risk of where you are wanting to work
• Route assessment and planning
• Map reading and navigation.
• Managing different types of terrain
• Weather conditions
• Outdoor 1st aid certificate
• Emergency procedures.
We will recognise and respect the emotional and relational processes in the work, the boundaries of the therapeutic work, and our differing skills sets, roles and responsibilities
