Service Description

A big walk on a big mountain as we climb the 3rd highest peak in the Lake District along one of the best known ridges, Striding Edge. This classing Lake District horseshoe requires a head for heights. We start in Glenridding and make our way up to the beginning of the infamous ridge ‘Striding Edge’. A knife edge ridge which will require the use of your hands. Watch out for the views down to Ullswater and across the Grisedale Valley, because they are stunning and can be a bit distracting. Once we have negotiated the ridge is steep scramble on to the summit we can take stock of our achievement with fantastic views all the way down Striding Edge. Having caught our breath and refuelled we take on our second ridge of the day, Swirral Edge. This easily underestimated ridge takes us to Catstye Cam, our second Wainwright of the day. From here we drop down to Red Tarn Beck which we follow down the valley, back to Glenridding and a well earned hot drink. The distance is approximately 12 kilometres/7.5 miles, with a height gain of 880 metres/2,890 feet.
