CRINKLE CRAGS

Scrambling series - grade 1

Crinkle Crag is a name that invites you to find out what it is all about.  Plenty of stunning views, some summits, an easy but fun scramble, and plenty of good company.

We will ascend a ridge called The Band to the rocky Crinkle Crags, and return via a mountain lake called Red Tarn where the brave can take a dip! We'll hopefully be back in time for the cafe.

The distance is approximately 7 miles/11.2 kilometres, with a height gain of 2650 feet/807 metres.

BOW FELL

Scrambling series - grade 1

There is nothing like getting straight into it, and that is exactly what we do as we head straight up the Langdale Pikes.

On the way, there is a chance for some hands-on grade 1 scrambling on our way to the summit, returning by Three Tarns.

Distance: 18 kilometres/11 miles
Height gain of 335 metres/1,020 feet.

FAIRFIELD HORSESHOE

This is a classic Lake District horseshoe onto Fairfield. A big day which is worth every step over 7 Wainwrights.

Leaving Ambleside we take in Heron Pike, and Great Rigg before getting to the top of Fairfield. The views are stunning and make every step worth the effort.

From here it is a 4 more peaks as we return to Ambleside and some well earned refreshments.

The distance is approximately 10 miles/17 kilometres, with a height gain of 1050 metres/3,450 feet.

Coniston Old Man via Dow Crag

It’s amazing how a name that includes ‘Old Man’ can seem familiar and easy. Whilst it isn’t the longest or highest walk in the Lake District, it isn’t to be underestimated.

We also pass through some fascinating old mine workings on the way down.

Distance: 12 kilometres/7.5 miles
Height gain: 820 metres/2,690 feet
